Racing to Save Lives

Warming up with my mentor on the track...

THANKS EVERYONE!

I'm happy to announce that with your support, I've met my fundraising goal! However, donations are still encouraged... my final event is not until October 21st.

Update posted at the end...

Thanks for visiting my Team In Training home page!

I am currently training to run my first marathon in Chicago on October 7th followed by the Nike Half Marathon in San Francisco two weeks later on October 21st. Yes, you heard me correctly - that's 26.2 miles + 13.1 miles = 39.3 miles of super fun running!

To help me prepare for this one-two punch, I am training as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

I have pledged to raise $3000 and I hope you will join me in reaching this goal to help advance the Society's mission. I would love a tax deductable donation of $39.30 ($1/mile), however, any contribution would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Take care,
Audrey

P.S. If you know someone whose life has been affected by leukemia or one of its related cancers (lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, myeloma) and you would like me to run in their honor, please let me know. I will add their names to a bracelet that I will wear during the two races to honor them as well as to give me that motivation I need during those long hours of running.

9/9/07 Update: Less than one month away from my marathon... So far, so good - I now have a couple 18 mile runs under my belt and I survived! Next weekend will be my peak 20 mile run and then I will taper in the last few weeks before race day. I've almost reached my fundraising goal so if you haven't had a chance to donate yet, support a great cause today! Thanks for visiting and stay tuned for more updates...
