Terri Oropeza's Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives
It’s been a few years since I first decided to train for a
marathon and raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help find a
cure for cancer. This year, I have decided to join the Marathon Run Team and
train for a full marathon (that is 26.2 miles). Originally, I joined Team in
Training to get in shape, to meet folks in Santa Cruz and to work for a noble
cause. It was all that and more and I
have stayed on with the Team to continue to support the Cause for the Cure..
Thanks to everyone’s support, I have raised almost $10,000
since 2003. This year my goal is to raise $5,000.00. Of the funds raised by
TNT, at least 75% go to research, education and patient services. A lot of the
money stays in our area at Stanford, Children’s Hospital and other programs.
Approximately 24,000 people with these diseases live in the Silicon
Valley/Monterey/Santa Cruz area.
Many of us have family or friends who have been touched by
cancer. TNT Monterey/ Santa Cruz Walk Team has 5
honorees - folks who have battled or are now battling cancer. The challenge of
doing a marathon or other endurance event is nothing compared to what folks
with cancer endure every day. If there are people close to you affected by
blood-related cancers, please let me know, as I would love to walk in their
honor as well – I can use all the inspiration I can get!
You have a chance to bring the cure closer by supporting me
in my walking efforts. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
PLEASE DO pass this site along to
anyone else who might be interested in helping us in this cause.
MATCHING FUNDS - If your company has a matching funds
program, I would love for you to leverage your donation. I will need a copy of
the Matching Funds
Confirmation so I can make sure it gets credited. If you are from Synopsys, we
have reinstated the Matching Gift program – you can leverage your donation even
more. Information is available on the Employee Giving site

May you realize success in your own endeavors, and may we
all go the distance. Thank you for your generous support. Be sure to check back
frequently to see my progress
Go Team!
