Racing to Save Lives

Dear friends, family, friends of family, and family of friends,

As many of you know I have now done several triathlons and completed a century ride with Gus in September. As most of you also know last February I was diagnosed with Crohns disease, which was a shock and extremely upsetting since I will have to live with this the rest of my life. I had a rough year trying to find the right meds, battling getting sick, and all the numerous tests; it was not fun. My health is now stable and I'm in remission so it's the perfect time to train for another triathlon with Team in Training.

Did you know that... More than 712,000 Americans have leukemia, Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every five minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age 20. Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age.

But... The Society has invested more than $360 million in research, $45 million in 2004 alone! The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The Society has dedicated itself to being one of the top-rated voluntary health agencies in terms of dollars that directly fund their mission. Isn't that awesome?

So the race is May 3rd at Lake San Antonio and on my jersey will be the names of the people that have dealt with Hodgkin's or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or Myeloma. My Aunt Sharon, my Father in Law Larry, my friend Shayna, and my famous client Janet. This means more to me this time around because I know what it's like to have something that you have to fight.

Will you help me to find a cure?? My fundraising goal is $2900 and I can't do it alone I need your help.

Thanks so much! Go TEAM!
