One Month 'Til Ironman France!

Want to know my story? Here it is!
I've now been with Team in Training for 5 seasons. During season one, I guided my friend Len, a blind runner, in the Honolulu Marathon. My second season, I saw a moose and snow-capped mountains during the beautiful Anchorage Marathon. For my third season, I mentored new participants, and re-visited the Honolulu Marathon. In my fourth season, I joined the triathlon team, and completed my first triathlon - the Wildflower Long Course (half ironman distance). This summer, I took on a new role and became Head Coach for the summer run team.
Every season I have been with Team In Training, I have learned the power of mind over matter. I have learned that my attitude is one of very few elements in life that I have control over. Most importantly, in getting to know our honored patients, people currently fighting cancer or in remission from cancer, I have learned about perspective - that sore muscles or a blister on my foot just pale in comparison to what cancer patients have to go through everyday. I have learned to feel privileged to have my healthy body, and to be thankful for what it can do.
So, I push myself, and I keep pushing. I reach for a goal, and with my newfound perspective and with knowing that I am training for something bigger than myself, I have always managed to achieve that goal I set my eyes on.
I have a new goal. My goal is two-fold: I have just joined the Ironteam, and am training to complete Ironman France on June 22nd. This is a huge feat of endurance (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run), but not as big as the second part of my goal, which is to raise more money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society than I have raised to date in all of my past fundrasiers combined. I want to cross the Ironman finish line knowing that it represents us getting that much closer to finding a cure for cancer. One person crossing a finish line, and $10,000 towards cancer research.
I'm hopeful that many people can help me reach my goal. If you are in a position where you can donate, you can do it right here on this website. Your money will be going directly to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and is of course tax-deductible. Any amount, be it $5 or $5,000 (!) makes a difference.
