Juliet Spencer's Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives (Again!)
Welcome back to my Team In Training home page!
I first got involved with Team in Training last spring. As a result, I raised over $3700 for cancer research and completed the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon! Despite the blisters, shin splints, and aching muscles, I'm ready to do it all over again. This fall I'm training to run in the California International Marathon in Sacramento on December 2nd. Not only will I be training and fundraising again on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, but I'm also serving as a mentor to new participants in the program. My goal is to have another successful season with TNT, and to help others have the same rewarding experience that I did.
If you haven't heard me talk about it before, all of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. I have actually had the honor of training with a few of these amazing individuals who somehow make both fighting cancer and running a marathon look easy! These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
Training Update 10/17/07 - This weekend I was supposed to run 18 miles, but instead I ran in the San Jose Rock & Roll Half Marathon. What a fun race! Beautiful course, lots of great bands. I finished 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 37 minutes (that's slow, but pretty good for me!).
Training Update 9/29/07 - This weekend I ran 16 miles through the hills of Woodside! It was a tough run, but I'm sure having chemotherapy would be a lot worse. Even though I'm training for the marathon in December, I'm getting excited to run in two upcoming 1/2 marathons - the San Jose Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon Oct. 14th and the Nike Women's 1/2 Marathon in San Francisco Oct. 21st. I'm hoping they will be easy compared to this Woodside training run!
Training Update 8/27/08 - This weekend I ran 10 miles along the coast in beautiful Half Moon Bay! The weather was perfect, and I had a great time running with two of my mentees, Shanna and Kelsey. I hope all the runs will be that much fun!
