Taylors' Triathlon Training Page
Two are better than one...
Welcome, friends and family! Last year we celebrated our 30th anniversary by going to Hawaii. We thought we'd celebrate our 31st by training for a triathlon together (while we still can). We know, we know...we're crazy!
We completed the Wildflower triathlon on May 4!!! We had a great weekend with our Team In Training teammates from the Monterey/Santa Cruz area. We did the 1500 meter swim in Lake San Antonio, the 40K (24.8 mile) bike ride through "rolling" hills, and the 6.2 mile run/walk (also with hills). Does that sound challenging? It was! But the blessings have far outweighed the pain. With just this event, Team In Training participants raised over $1.7 million to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
We trained for this event in honor of our friend Scott Halverson, who was recently diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma and began chemotherapy on January 25th. He continued his treatments while we trained. He now has just 2 more chemo treatments to go. When we got tired, we thought of and prayed for Scott and his family...and just kept swimming, peddling, and running or walking. Scott and others like him are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Thanks to all who have joined our team, supporting us through prayer, encouragement, and donations to the LLS. We were committed to raising at least $5000 together; so far we've raised nearly $6000! And it's not too late to give! So, think of Scott, think of your friends with cancer, think of us training for and completing the event (so you didn't have to), think of our anniversary, think of our aches and pains....and think about making a nice donation. Thanks so much for your support!
RON DID PULL-UPS WITH A PURPOSE! On Thursday, April 10, 12:00 noon, at Redwood Camp, HE DID 50!!! His efforts have raised more than $700 towards the goal of finding a cure for the blood cancers! Way to go, Ron! Thanks to all who supported his efforts!
WAHOO!!! WE'VE INCREASED OUR GOAL!!! We are very close to our new goal of $6000. Let's see how high we can go--every dollar helps brings us closer to a cure!
Thanks for your support!
