Racing to Save Lives
It is finally here! I leave Friday for San Diego. The half marathon is on Sun Jun 1st, I will be sending out my time and how I do.
I just want to thank all who have supported me. Without you this would not be possible. The kind words, encouragement and generositiy have been overwhelming! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
I ran a 5K race ( 3.1 miles ) on Sat ( 3/29 ). My time was 27 mins and 12 seconds. I placed 106 out of 258 overall. I was the 35 woman to come in out of 143, and I placed 13 out of 45 in my age group. I thought I did well.
I got to run a 10 mile race on March 15th. It took me 1 hour and 38 mins to complete it. I am feeling more confident about the 13 miles now. With the race and training, it brings my total miles to date to 119. And many more to go. Thank you to all who have donated, I keep your thoughtfulness and kind words with me on my runs.
I am training to participate in a half maraithon (13.1 mile) endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of my 5 year old nephew, Ricky McAvaddy, and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I'd like to show Ricky that a lot of people see him as a hero too! Please help by making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. You'll get to see my mileage in training that I'm doing in preparing for my big event. Also, I'll be running a 5K the end of March! My heart's in this, I hope I can count on yours too!! Thanks for your support!
