Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Welcome to my Team In Training home page. On May 4th I will be running in the Long Branch ½ Marathon with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested over $550 million in blood cancer research and has been the driving force behind some of the most significant breakthroughs in oncology treatments. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Team in Training which raises funds for the ongoing work of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. My inspiration for this run is my Mother, Jean, who was diagnosed with Lymphoma in the Spring of 2003. Over the past 5 years she has endured numerous surgeries, invasive tests and grueling treatments with the past 6 months having been especially difficult with many extended periods in the hospital for very aggressive chemotherapy. The cancer has left her with restricted use of one hand, and the chemo and surgeries have repeatedly left her in a very weakened physical state, but this terrible disease has not left her in a weakened emotional state. I have stood by her in complete amazement, and with the utmost admiration as she battles the cancer with dignity, grace and a remarkable courage. If you met her over the past several months while she was bird watching with her grandson or cheering for her granddaughter during a tennis match, her joy for life is what would strike you - you would never guess that she is seriously ill. She is a terrific person, and a truly wonderful Mother. Thank you so much for your donation and support.
