Champaign Flying Pigs' Team In Training Page

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to our Team In Training home page.

We are training to participate in Cincinnati's Flying Pig Marathon as part of the 4-person Police Relay Challenge as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We are completing this event in memory of Robert Schaefer, Jason and Jennifer's uncle, who lost his battle with leukemia in July 2005, as well as honoring all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support our participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.

We hope you'll visit our web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see our progress. Thanks for your support!

Jennifer Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Jason Jones, and Shannon Bridges

UPDATE 03/31/07: A little over a month to go and less than $1000 left to raise! Many thanks go out to those who have donated to our team. We could not do this without you!

Special thanks go out to the CHAMPAIGN POLICE OFFICERS CHARITIES ASSOCIATION for their generous donation. This is the charitable arm of Champaign's Police Benevolent and Protective Association (P.B.P.A. Unit #7). Thanks to our fellow men and women at CPD for supporting this very important cause!

Shannon and Jen would also like to thank FITTEK in Mahomet for donating to our cause and for providing a positive environment to train in!

Wish Brandon luck in his training! He'll be running a half-marathon in St Louis on April 15th.

UPDATE 04/19/07: Brandon completed his half-marathon in two hours, six minutes! Who-hoo! Way to go Brandon!!

The team would like to thank BOB&BRAD'S AUTO MART in Champaign for supporting us with their generous donation.

The race is almost here. Just a couple weeks to go!

UPDATE 05/01/07: We are down to the last week. The race is this coming Sunday! Thank you to all who have supported us by making donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society getting us to our fundraising goal...and then some!
