What A Difference A Year Makes!
Welcome to my 2008 Team In Training page.
In 2006, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. After some hardcore chemo, I kicked cancer's butt to kingdom come. In June 2007, I celebrated by participating in my first Team in Training event, a half-marathon, on the exact 1-year-to-date anniversary of my cancer diagnosis. How sweet it was to be able to cross the finish line under my own steam and in remission!
Unfortunately, there are so many people who are still facing blood cancers and their outcomes are not always as successful as mine. For that reason (and just because I CAN), I am once again participating in Team in Training for the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon 2008.
With the generous contributions of so many friends, both old and new, I have raised over $7,000 in 2007 to help further the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to eradicate blood cancers. I can't rest on my laurels because we still have so far to go and every dollar can make a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients and their families. While I take care of the grunt work of walking 13.1 miles, you can be an armchair participant by making your donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on my behalf.
