OK, to keep up with Amy, she's (well, her sister did it) made it easy, and you can leave she and the family a message!
January 31, 2007 Update
Well I'm getting pretty close to my goal! Thank you all of you great people for partnering with me on this.I want to take this time to pass along a little information as to what I'm up to these days.
As many of you know my friend Amy has been diagnosed with cancer. Yesterday she had her PET and CT scans. So soon she will know a whole lot more about her therapy options.
This Saturday afternoon, I'm getting together with a group of friends for a cooking party to make a bunch of meals for The Hines family of 8. If you want to be involved in that or want to find out about future cooking parties, email me at clmaxie@fuse.net
A couple of us are also talking about what we can do for Amy's mom, who moved to Cincinnati this month to help Amy, with Amy, kids, and house.
Speaking of kids, we are putting together some ideas for some outings for them.
So if you would like to be involved in any of this, please email me and I'll let you know more. CLMaxie@fuse.net
Oh yeah, as for running in this crazy cold Cincinnati weather...thank goodness for the treadmill!!! I've been keeping up, but doing it at the gym in the cardio theatre.
January 26, 2007
In November of 2006 I decided to train to run The Flying Pig Marathon (yes all 26.2 miles). I also felt that my time and effort in doing this should go to something bigger than, "Cool, I ran a marathon." At many of the events I had run in before, I had noticed this group, Team in Training, so I checked it out. I have known people who have had cancer or one of their loved one's had it, and I felt this was a great way to support and encourage these people and their families. So now, I am training to participate in Cincinnati's 9th Flying Pig Marathon (did I mention that's 26.2 miles?) on May 6th, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.
Ironically, this past month, a very dear and cherished friend of mine found out that she has cancer, and is now going for biopsies and scans to determine what type of surgery, how much radiation, and what type of chemo she will need. I pray and think of Amy, her husband, her 6 children, her mother, her friends, and the lives that she touches each and every day, and I want her to be around for a very long time, because she's just so great, and our community (including my life) is so much more because of her. I know there are many people out there like Amy, who add so much to this crazy world we live in, and I hope that this small piece that I'm contributing, with your help, to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, can help these great people, kick cancer, and keep them doing the wonderful things that they do.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. My fund raising goal is $1400, which I will be turning in on April 13th. Please feel free to donate from the website, or contact me if you prefer to make your donation in another form or offline.
I hope you'll visit my web site often and tell others about it. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Thanks for all of your donations and encouraging words! The help and encouragement you are providing and the help others are receiving through all of this, is really keeping me motivated on some of these bitter cold running mornings. Here's hoping for a sunny and dry May 6th!!
