Well ... I did it. I completed my first-ever marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training!
I ran, jogged and walked exactly 26.2 miles in the PF Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Marathon, held Sunday morning, January 14, 2008 in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, Arizona.
I participated in honor of my grandfather George Jacobson, who died of leukemia in 1988. I was also inspired by Boston Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester, who successfully returned to baseball this summer after a year of chemotherapy to treat Hodgkins' lymphoma and was the winning pitcher in Game Four of the 2007 World Series.
