Raquel's Biking to Save Lives
Biking for the Cure
Welcome to my TNT page.
I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training (TNT). All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
As some of you know my mother past away three years ago from Myelodysplasia this was the hardest time of my life, taking care of my mother and feeling helpless at the same time. What a humbling and horrible experience realizing that I knew my mother was at the end of her life and I could not do anything except give her pain relief.
Myeloddyspasia (MDS) can progress to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). There was a couple of doctors who diagnosed my mother with Leukemia. Hearing those words were devastaing to me. My sister and I quickly looked up all we could on Leukemia and found out at my mother's age (74) and stage of the disease she was not a candidate for a bone marrow transplant. There was not a cure for her. I am hoping as she would that there will be a cure soon. However, that as we all know takes research.
Now you know why I have chosen to bike ride 100 miles in one day in the fight against Leukemia.
We all wish that there were cures for all diseases, let's make that happen by giving to others. If we can pass this on to everyone we know and if each person contributes, we can make my teams goal. All contributions are tax deductible.
Thanks for your contribution in memory of all who have past away and in honor of all the people who are fighting this painful disease and other illnesses.
