Cathy's running again
because a broken leg can't stop me.
Hi All!
Ding, Ding - round three. So last spring season I set out to train for the RNR marathon set in San Diego in June. As some of you know and what I found out many of you don't, I broke my leg 1/2 way through training and had to lay out for the season. Well fall season didn't do me any better as the leg wasn't fully healed and I developed tendonitis in my knee from overcompensating. So here I am again, round three.
If you know me, you'll know I'm pretty stubborn. I started my training this time well before season and have been running injury free (knock on wood) for over two months now. We had our first session last Saturday and I came off of it feeling great. Let me remind you why I'm doing this. Not only am I preparing for 26 AND .2 miles, but at the same time having the opportunity to raise money to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
15 years ago I watched as leukemia slowly took the life of my friends 5 year old baby girl. The devastation of the disease is overwhelming. I'm racing for her and others who have lost their lives, for those that are currently battling with the disease and for my children and others who are thankfully healthy. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
So here's the "ask". This year the San Diego Chapter is trying to set a record by raising $2.2 million for research. Now, I'm doing all the hard work, I'm up most days at 5:15am (yea me) I'm running and working out and going on long runs with my team on Saturdays - which means early to bed on Fridays. I used to love Friday nights... :( All I ask is that you help me pass my goal in fundraising. You can make an online donation right here and now. It's as simple as that!
I also encourage you to share this link with others, I can definately use the support.
Peace.
Cathy
