Running to save lives

As some of you know last year after completing my first 26.2 mile marathon run I swore off running long distances unless there was a masked man and knife involved. Some time has passed now and I have decided strangely enough to do some more running. I am hoping that my body has forgotten the pain that it endured last January so that I can focus on the reason for this recent madness.....to raise some more funding to find a cure for that nasty six letter word....CANCER.
Now, while my body may have forgotten the pain, my mind, and memory, is still working quite well. For this reason I will not be going for the full 26.2 mile run (that still requires at least a masked man). I am however, commiting to a half marathon (you guessed it 13.1 miles). I think this is still pretty great....and besides the heart of the cause is in the challenge ,which believe me, will still be there.
I am training to participate in the San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon June 1st, 2008 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.
Cancer is not going to cure itself. It could become extremely personal to any of us at anytime. Let's not wait for a personal tradgedy....Let's start doing something now!
The donations you give will go toward research, real research that is working to find new treatments, new medicines and ultimately A CURE!
Since 1988, Team In Training participants have raised over $850 million that has gone towards vital research efforts and support for the people battling the disease. You don't HAVE to run a marathon to be part of that. Do what you can do, donate, tell others, pass this message on and get the word out. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help reach the real finish line, a cure.
I hope you'll visit my web site as much as you can. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
