Brian Sheerin's Team In Training Page

This marathon training has been a royal pain in the ass, but it's still better than fighting Leukemia.

Hey, thanks for visiting my Team In Training page.

I was going to run in this year's Rock N' Roll Marathon on June 3rd in San Diego, California, training as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program. I raised $2420 for them with your assistance (which is $420 more than I had hoped to raise).

Most likely, you're a Mower fan or a friend, or you were steered here by one, or you already donated to the cause last time around

Long story short I trained for about 8 weeks with TNT and successfully ran over 13 miles at my best, and then my band went out on tour and didn't get back until after the race.

I was really let down about the way things worked out, but fortunately, I foresaw the possibility of missing the race when I signed on to run with TNT, and made arrangements to run another race if that happened.

Mower will be touring from September to November of 2007, and it looks like the next opportunity I will get to complete my end of the deal will be in January in one of a few races that are scheduled.

If you donated to the cause, I want to thank you and let you know I'm going to get through a marathon as promised.

I have contacted the LLS about opening up this page again for donations, since technically, I'm still fundraising as far as I'm concerned, so check back and tell your friends>

I don't know much about Leukemia or Lymphoma beyond the fact that they suck.

I don't have a heart-wrenching story of a family member fighting disease, but I do have some friends who have suffered and lost loved ones, and I want to help and you know you do too.

If you're down with my band or consider yourself a friend of mine then contribute something. After all, I'm the moron who is risking a heart attack trying to run 26 miles. I mean, I party pretty hard, you know?

Let's face it, I'm not the smiley, bell-ringing fundraiser type, but I'm hoping I can get a few people to help.

This Dane Cook video pretty much sums up my fundraising style, listen past the bit about Oprah until he gets to Mogwai:

Don't be a "Think For Yourselfer", make a donation.

Below is the form letter The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provides to fill you in on the great things you will be supporting if you contribute the price of a 40 oz. beer or a bongload.

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

So that's the story so far. I've worked with Team In Training in the past, and after seeing how generous and kind-hearted these people are. I always said I would try to run a marathon for them someday. I finally ran out of excuses to blow it off.

Help someone else today.

Thanks and take care,

Brian
