Running to Save Lives
Thanks for visiting my Team In Training home page!
UPDATE: October 18, 2007: I am leaving TOMORROW for San Francisco! WOOHOO! Thank y'all SO much for your support! Only a little more to go to reach my goal!
UPDATE: September 14, 2007: Bill Roberts, a father of a high school friend of mine, was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He and his family are in strong need of prayer. Other news: I met the required goal of $4100, so I only have a little more to go to get to $4500! I'm running 18 miles this week! Wish me luck, I've been sick with a cold, so this might be tough!
UPDATE: August 29, 2007: A lot has changed in the last month! I am up to 14-mile runs and I am now Mrs. Stokes! Only a bit more fundraising to go! Dig in those wallets just a little bit deeper! We have another honored hero as well...Taylor Carr Wise, a friend of mine and recent graduate of Clemson Univeristy, Taylor was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, please keep her and her family in your prayers!
UPDATE: July 25, 2007: Please remember the Owens Family and the Dyar Family in your prayers. Steve Dyar, loved husband, father, and uncle, passed away Friday, July 20th, after a brave battle with esophageal cancer. Steve was an incredibly Godly man and has obviously passed on his wonderful faith to his family. May God bless this family during this difficult time and always.
UPDATE: July 16, 2007: We raised $732.00 from Boykin Charity Night!! Thank y'all so much for your support, it was a great success! I also have another honored hero that I will be running for, Reda Rietveld, a member of my church, St. John's UMC was diagnosed with breast cancer on Friday, July 13th, so please keep her and her family in your prayers. Reda is a wonderful wife and mother, so just pray for God to hold her family in His hands during this hard time.
I am training for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, CA, October 21, 2007. TNT helps runners train for a marathon, while raising money for The Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. The funds help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling any type of cancer.
Our team’s honored hero is Caylyn Bachman from Spartanburg, SC. You can visit Caylyn's website at www.caringbridge.org/visit/caylynbachman.
My personal honored hero is one of my very favorite people, Gary Scheuch, who was my boss when I worked at Boykin Company Grille. Gary was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on December 13, 2002. Five years later, he has won the battle against Lymphoma!
My fundraising commitment is $4500, so I need your help! I would be happy to wear the name of someone you love on my shirt during the race, just let me know! My shirt is filling up quickly with more heros such as Jennifer Richardson, Janice Evatt, Rev. Ken Moore, and Jack Evatt.
Want to help? $1/mile = $26.20, $2/ mile = $52.40, OR donate $100 and receive a souvenir from San Francisco! ANY amount is perfect and will help.
