the ride to tahoe
is willingness
When we first signed up for the 100-mile ride back in January, we had--in some ways--no idea what we were getting ourselves into. But the TNT experience has been amazing. We've been through flat tires and crashes, broken wheels and windstorms. Fundraising rejections and absolute generosity. And, maybe most significantly, my extreme phobia of riding down hills. Though I sobbed my way through most of the Tahoe ride (including the final 8-mile downhill, which began at mile 89), Kevin cheered me on--along with an entire team of people who were absolute strangers 6 months ago. Everyone there was riding for something so much bigger than the challenge of 100 miles: a cure for blood cancers. All along the way, we remembered why we were riding--in honor of our friend Leanne and Kevin's Aunt Bonnie. But also in celebration of others we've met along our journey. Some have been cancer survivors. And others have been people who have reached out in generosity to us, to our friends, to those who were riding with us. For all of you, we rode in gratitude. And sadly, we were also riding in memory of so many who have lost their battles with cancer. As we passed through the start line on June 3rd, we released purple balloons into the frigid morning sky in their memory. More than anything, we have been overwhelmed by how generous people in our lives have been. We hope all of you will consider taking part in a TNT event. It is truly a life-changing experience! Thank you so much for your support!
