Training Updates

Last Updated June 24, 2007

I did it!! I finished the Mayor's Marathon with a new personal record of 4 hours and 24 minutes!! This course was definitely very challenging...probably the most difficult I've ever had to run. Very hilly, especially with a 10 mile stretch of trail running and long a tank trail within the Army compound. There were a few hilly switchbacks that made it very interesting. I caught sight of a moose crossing the street while others spotted bald eagles and brown bears along the way! What made it all worthwhile was all the beautiful Alaskan scenery and over half of the race was full of purple Team in Training jerseys!! I saw folks from California, NYC, Canada, Texas, Maryland, and so many others that raised so much money for a great cause and were able to finish this amazing marathon!

As I'm updating this website one day after the race, my legs are stiff and sore...but my discomfort will never compare to the hardship that our patients and families must endure everyday while fighting for their lives. On behalf of them, I want to thank you for all your support!

At our pre-race pasta party dinner, our main speaker was a woman who was diagnosed with CML about ten years ago. She was lucky enough to be a apart of Dr. Druker's clinical trial at ULCA for the drug Gleevec. His grant came from funds raise by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Ten years later, she was able to speak to us and very soon, celebrate her 30th wedding anniversary. So as you can see, your support is needed and goes to an amazing cause!

Even though my race is over, my involvement with the society has not stopped. With a few weeks of rest, I'll be back training again for one more marathon this year with Team in Training at the adidas Dublin Marathon. The link to this fundraising campaign is at the top of this website, so please do visit and follow my fundraising and training progress.

Again, THANK YOU and see you in Dublin!

June 21, 2007

So tonight I leave for Anchorage. I'm a bit nervous, as always, but very excited. I can't wait to see all those purple jerseys out on the race course!! I'll try to update the website each day that I'm in Anchorage...as it will be good therapy for me to get my anxiety out in words.

A few nights ago I had dinner with a good friend who I met through Team in Training. Her name is Janie Johnson-Cao and she is one of our amazing Team Heroes. Janie is almost at the 5 year mark of being cancer free from Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. She wanted to send us off, wish us luck, and thank us for all the hard work we've done in raising funds for research. If it wasn't for a grant that was funded by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Janie might not be here today. This grant funded a researcher, Dr. Brian Druker, M.D., who developed the drug Gleevec which treats CML. This drug attacks the cancerous cells and leaves the good cells alone, which minimizes the side effects of this type of chemotherapy. Before this drug was developed, Janie only had a 2% chance of surviving...now five years later and still on Gleevec, she is leading a normal life with her family. It is stories like Janie's that keep me going with my fundraising and training. Janie, YOU ROCK!

So with all the help I've gotten from Janie with my fundraisers, I feel that it would be only fitting to dedicate this race in her honor. To my hero, Janie, you've fought an awesome fight...this one's for you!!

June 19, 2007

Four days and counting until the Mayor's Marathon! I'm very excited, anxious, and a little bit scared. At this point, there's nothing much else I can do to better prepare myself other than drink lots of water, carb-load, and get plenty of sleep. Right now I'm just trying to get through each day the best I can. With packing and moving going on, it's been very challenging keeping up with training and all.

As this will be my fourth marathon, I'm getting really good at tapering my training!! Here's my schedule for this week:

Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - 3 miles
Wednesday - 4 miles
Thursday - 2 miles
Friday - rest
Saturday - Race Day! 26.2 Miles

SEE Y'ALL IN ANCHORAGE!!

****************************************

June 11, 2007

So last week I was supposed to start tapering, which I did a pretty good job during the week. With all the winds gusting up in the Denver Metro area, it was a lot more difficult to breathe...must be allergies or something. This Sunday I ran the Rocky Mountain Half Marathon with a couple TNT'ers. This is my second time running this race and is seemed a tad bit easier than last time. Granted, I'm probably in better shape than last year, plus I paced myself pretty well. The hardest part was running up along Invesco Field up to Sloan's Lake between miles 7 and 8, which is otherwise known as the Marine's Hill. It was a 132ft straight up incline that lasted just under a mile. Whew! The hill was lined with Marines cheering us on...which was really helpful. This course by far is the most difficult I've ever ran, harder than Steamboat and the Georgetown Half Marathon courses. Nonetheless, my self-competitive nature didn't hold me back and I made a new personal half-marathon record!! Official time: 2 hours 13 minutes and 50 seconds. Whoo Hoo!! Last year's time was 2hrs 37min 36sec. A Huge improvement! I felt great the entire race and caught a second wind at mile 11. It was great!! What an awesome course with plenty of aid stations and wonderful volunteers! I'll definitely be back next year!!

Just 12 more days until the marathon in Alaska! I'm so excited! Especially to run at sea level! Although I've already reached my fundraising goal for Alaska, I'm still keeping the momentum going for my Dublin Marathon campaign. This week I've got one last group fundraiser for the Alaska crew and I hope raise lots of funds!!

Here's to a wonderful week of tapering!

Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - track workout
Thursday - 4 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 8 miles
Sunday - 3 miles

June 4, 2007

Just got back from the Steamboat Springs Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K race. There were many purple jerseys out on the course, including myself. I ran with one of my mentees, Cy Walters....he tried to take off like Speedy Gonzales, but I think I did a pretty good job of pacing him and bringing him to the finish line. At one point, I thought I was going to have to carry him, but he managed to run through his wall.

It was a beautiful run starting 13.1 miles out of town and running into downtown Steamboat Springs. One water stop, there was a camel, which I thought it was weird...but after a while, water stations do start looking a lot like oases. This run was a fun one for me, as I'm still training for the Mayor's Marathon in Anchorage which is only two weeks away. It was great seeing other Team in Training runners out on the course as well at the finish line. So many have come so far to get through the training and fundraising that I felt honored to be a part of an amazing group of people.

The weekend definitely couldn't have been better. I got to hang out with two fellow TNT runners/alumni, went and played a little golf, sang 80's songs in the car on the way up, and met some great people in Steamboat!

Weekend is over, back to Denver, and back to business. Here's this week's training schedule:

Monday - rest
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - track work out
Thursday - 6 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - rest
Sunday - Rocky Mountain Half Marathon (Denver, CO)

When I thought I couldn't get busier! This past week had a lot going on. Got in my training runs and a few fundraising activities. Saturday I managed to get in an extra lap at Washington Park before the group met at 7am for the run. Thanks Katie for running with me around Wash Park and Cheesman! She kept up a nice but fast pace and made the long run that much more bearable. That night I then dealt blackjack at Cherry Creek High School's graduation party through AAA Casino Rentals. Jim, thank you for involving us with your business and helping up with our fundraising. In between the run and blackjack, I managed to get a few batches of brownies and cookies made for our next bake sale. By the time I got home from dealing bj, it was about 11:30pm. I stayed up for a few more hours finishing the chocolate covered pretzels and cutting the brownies.

Sunday, our group had a somewhat successful bake sale. People mainly donated, so we had a lot of baked goods left over, which I take to work and sell the rest. I feel bad for contributing to the unhealthy diets of my co-workers, but it's all for a great cause...right? At one point during our sale, the winds gusted up pretty good and we were holding on to everything for dear life! It was kind of funny...all of us were holding onto the canopy and chasing down blown away pamphlets. Very amusing!!

Memorial Day, I ran the 29th Bolder Boulder (my fifth)...and my quest to break the one hour mark came close. I don't my official finishing time yet, but will be sure to post it when it's available.

Needlesstosay I am pretty pooped and being back at work is a nice recovery from the crazy weekend. Looking at this week's schedule, doesn't look like things are going to calm down for a while.

Here's the training schedule:

Monday - Bolder Boulder 10K
Tuesday - rest
Wednesday - track workout
Thursday - 7 miles
Friday - rest
Saturday - 12 miles
Sunday - Steamboat Springs Half Marathon

May 23, 2007

I think dyslexia and neurological deficits are starting to take hold. Running really puts a drain on the brain cells! Sunday's run at the Colfax Marathon was definitely an interesting experience. I'm glad I got it over with and now I know that I can finish my marathon next month. It was really warm that day, but with all the aid stations, water hoses, sprinklers, and the sponge bath station....boy did that make a huge difference!! Thank you Jerry, my fellow Team in Training runner, who ran with me a few points along the way. That really helped get me through some tough spots including the last mile uphill to the finish. At the beginning, I took a detour into a Mexican Restaurant to use their bathrooms since porto-potties were not in sight! They were so nice and cheered me on as I left their building! Muchas gracias! Running past Casa Bonita made me think about jumping into their waterfall! It was definitely great being back in a race setting again!

After the race we had a end of season celebration for all the summer Team in Training participants. The staff at Carraba's did an awesome job of making sure we had enough to eat and keeping our drinks full. It was great seeing everyone in their "normal" attire and getting to know some of the participants better. I don't know how I managed to keep socializing, but I think my brain went on auto-pilot at some point.

I am officially one month away from my marathon race. Even though this is not my first one, I always get excited and scared all at the same time. My analogy to marathon running is similar to that of giving birth (not from personal experience). The first time is always exciting and scary, because you don't know what to expect. At the end you're the happiest you've ever been, you want to cry and kiss everyone around you. Every marathon after that is just as special and each experience is unique. You dread the training because you've been through it before, but come race day and at the finish, you get that amazing feeling that consumes your emotions....and you still want to cry and kiss everyone! That is why I run, why I run marathons, and why I run marathons for a cause!

Enough of that! Here's this week's training schedule:

Monday - 7 miles
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - track work
Thursday - 7 miles
Friday - rest
Saturday - 20 miles
Sunday - 3 miles

May 14, 2007

Things are definitely getting more hectic and crazy as race day draws near. Having said that, I'm still doing pretty good with keeping up with my training, even though keeping my meals somewhat healthy has been a challenge. I've officially been released from treatment by my wonderful podiatrist. Hopefully I won't have to deal with plantar faciitis for a while! Thank you Dr. Murray!!

As some of you may already know, I will be moving closer into Denver at the beginning of June. As if I didn't need another item on my plate, it's going to be a busy summer with moving, running, and fundraising! My new place will be near the Highline Canal trail, which will be great, as well as closer in town to where we meet for our group training runs.

This past Saturday was quite busy. I ran a fast 8 miles before attending the Fall Kick Off Celebration for Team in Training. I've lost count, but I think I have about 12-14 new participants that I'm mentoring through this amazing program. Some of them are training for the Nike Marathon in San Francisco and a few of us are going to Dublin Ireland for the adidas Dublin Marathon. I'm excited for them as this will truly be a life changing experience for them.

My summer team is doing quite well. All of them are still training and fundraising and we have just about one month away before we head off to our races. I've met some truly amazing and unique people with this group that I hope to always keep in touch and remain friends. The "unique" award goes to David Stump, who's eloquent use of the English vocabulary has kept me entertained email after email. You can visit his website at: http:www.active.com/donate/tntrm/RunStumperRun.

The weekend ended with a beautiful run at Waterton Canyon. I met up with one of my mentees, April Clifton at 6AM! The weather has been unseasonably warm, so we thought we should get a head start. Boy was I glad I got started early! Ran about 11 miles and by the time I got back to my car, it had to be around 75 degrees and getting warmer. As I got up the trail farther and farther, the air got cooler. No animal sightings....I'll be sure keep an eye out for the bighorn sheep that live there!

As always, here's this week's training schedule:

Monday - 4 miles
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - speed work
Thursday - 7 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - rest
Sunday - 20 miles (running the Colorado Colfax Marathon)

May 8, 2007

Last week was definitely a challenge. Physically and mentally I was getting worn out. Between meetings for my Lions Club, looking for a place to live (long story), work, fundraisers, and training, I'm surprised I'm still awake and functioning. These long runs are getting harder and harder to get through, but luckily I have a nice group of folks to pass the time.

Foot Update: Things are good, doctor is taping my arches, and pain is almost non-existent. Hip hip hooray! Hopefully it will stay this way for the rest of the year!

This week I'm also getting geared up for the Fall Season Kickoff and leading another group of heroes through training and fundraising. These people will be training for either the Denver Marathon, Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, or the Dublin Marathon. I'm excited to be able to train and go to Dublin! But for now, I need to focus on training for Alaska and reaching my fundraising goal. I'M SO CLOSE!! I spent six hours in front of Wal-Mart this past Sunday selling baked goods and still selling them at work. I think I will have raised over $100!!

Here is this week's training schedule:

Monday - 6 miles
Tuesday - Lift Weights
Wednesday - Speedwork
Thursday - 6 miles
Friday - Lift Weights
Saturday - 20 miles (WOW!)
Sunday - rest

May 1, 2007

Happy May Day! Boy was this a crazy week or what!! Lots of miles! The weather is definitely getting warmer and it's making it harder to run later in the day. We got a freak snow storm last Tuesday and I hope that is the last of it! Saturday, my mentee Cy and I endured a 18 mile run, which the later was tough because of the heat. Sunday I ran the 25th Anniversary race of the Cherry Creek Sneak, which started at 9:15am. Way way to late in the morning to run 5 miles! My great friend Pamela and I stopped at many water stations dumping H2O on our heads in order to cool off. Monday, there was a change of pace and our mentor-led run went south to Waterton Canyon to get in about 6 miles. Today I'm definitely ready to take a break. The foot is doing fine and my strap on boot has become a almost-permanent accessory. So cross your fingers that injuries will stay away for the next few months!

I'm so close to my fundraising goal for this season that I hope my bake sale this Sunday will take me up and over my goal. I've also got a few other fundraising events in the planning stage. If you know anyone that would like to donate items to be raffled or auctioned off, please have them contact me! I'm always looking for great giveaways!

Next few races on my schedule include running in a relay team for the Colorado Colfax Marathon on May 20th, the infamous Bolder Boulder 10K on Memorial Day, and the Steamboat Springs Half Marathon on June 3rd. I'm always looking for people to run with at races as well as partake in post-race festivities, so let me know if you're interested in joining in the entourage!

As always, here's this week's running schedule...

Monday - 6 miles (done)
Tuesday - lift weights....and sleep!!
Wednesday - speed work
Thursday - 7 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 16 miles
Sunday - rest

April 24, 2007

Happy Monday. This past weekend it was nice to roll back in mileage quite a bit. Went to the doctor and Thursday and confirmed that I have plantar faciitis. So now I'm icing my heel, wearing orthotic inserts in my shoes, and wearing a splint boot to bed every night. Hopefully this will keep the pain managable, which it has so far. My next check up will be in two weeks to see how the therapy has worked.

We had our 80's Party last Saturday and it was a success! We raised $380 for LLS and thanks to Carraba's & Black Eyed Pea for donating all the food and Lukas Liquors for providing the gift card that we used to purchase the keg of beerr. It was so much fun to see everyone dressed up in 80's attire. One of our guests even brought her high school year book from 1988...man, were those hairdo's funny or what!

I hope to meet my fundraising goal pretty soon, hopefully with more fundraising events. Please do check back to see updates on upcoming events. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Here's this week's running schedule....

Monday - 6 miles & strength train
Tuesday - Lift weights
Wednesday - speed work & strength train
Thursday - 5 miles
Friday - Lift weights
Saturday - 19 miles
Sunday - rest

April 16, 2007

This week was tough for training, weather-wise. One day we had perfect sunny and the next it was snowing. Luckily the so-called snowstorm we were supposed to get Friday, skipped right past us, so Saturday's run wasn't as difficult as expected. It started out as a chilly morning, but two hours into our run, the sun came out and it was quite warm.

This past week had a lot of fundraising going on. One of my mentees, Kelly, hosted a cooking class as a fundraiser. We learned how to make Vietnamese spring rolls, Tom Yum soup, and Thai Basil Chicken. Sunday I had my first bake sale of the season at Wal-mart. My friend Heather was gracious enough to keep me company all day long...from 9a-3p. Thank you Heather! I still have left overs, so I'm trying to sell the rest at work. So far I've made about $115!

With two months left before the marathon, I'm happy to have raised most of my fundraising goal thus far...but I'm not stopping! I have committed to train for the Dublin Marathon as well. Yes, that's right! Dublin...as in Dublin Ireland. I am hoping to raise an additional $4,700 for this race and this will be my last fundraising campaign for the year. So for everyone who has yet to donate, there is plenty of time and plenty more to give. I will keep you posted on my Dublin website when it becomes available.

This week I'm going to see a podiatrist. Hopefully I will be able to deal with my plantar faciitis more effectively. Here's this week's running schedule:

Monday - 6 miles
Tuesday - 3 miles
Wednesday - Speedwork
Thursday - 5 miles
Friday - Cross train Saturday - 12 miles
Sunday - rest

April 9, 2007

This last week was killer trying to get back to running after the Platte River Half Marathon, which took a lot out of me. Nonetheless, I started running again Wednesday and felt pretty good. Same 'ol aches and pains are still there, so I'm thinking about seeing a foot doctor that specializes in marathoners. Saturday's run I woke up to see that it was snowing. Not fun at all. It was really cold and the flurries were not letting up. What kept me going was the company of fellow Team in Training people including Coach Stu.

I went to a TNT Fundraiser later Saturday to support fellow runner Patrick Layton, who is doing the Steamboat Springs Marathon in June. He had the funnest Texas Hold'em party...granted, it was my first time playing. Given that, I WON THE TOURNAMENT! Beginner's luck I guess! I walked away with so many prizes, but most importantly we were all supporting a great cause and an amazing Team in Training participant. Congrats to Patrick for having a successful event!

Well, here's this week's training schedule:

Monday - 6 miles
Tuesday - 3 miles
Wednesday - speedwork
Thursday - 5 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 17 miles
Sunday - rest

April 2, 2007

This week was definitely crazy! Between work, training, and life, it's amazing that I have the energy to get up and train on the weekends! This weekend was especially busy. Sunday April 1st (absent of jokes and pranks) I ran the Platte River Half Marathon with many other Team in Training participants. The race started out with perfect weather, but as it got later, it definitely got hotter. Every water station I grabbed two cups of water, one to drink and the other to pour on my head. Even with this strategy, I had a hard time cooling down my body. By mile 10, I felt pretty tired and exhausted, mentally and physicially. At the mile 12 water stop, many Team in Training folks were there volunteering including our patient honoree Janie Johnson-Cao. They were definitely a sight for sore eyes!! The last mile was killer....up the 8th Street Bridge the uphill lasted for about 1/4 of a mile, but seemed like forever. Coming around the corner for the finish line was a huge relief. Despite the hills and hot weather, I managed to finish at a decent time. Official time 2 hours 24 minutes 31 seconds. I was hoping to beat my best time, which was at the 2006 Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon...2 hours 22 minutes 5.2 seconds, but maybe next time.

After the race I headed down to J. Alexander's for our group's silent auction fundraiser. It was a great success! Thank you to everyone who attended and help support out amazing cause! We raised $2,171 for LLS! It went so well that we are planning another event in the next month, so make sure to come back and check the fundraising events section of this website.

As tired as I am this morning, there's still training to do. Here's this week's schedule...

Monday - 5 miles (maybe)
Tuesday - rest
Wednesday - speedwork
Thursday - 4 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 15 miles
Sunday - 3 miles

March 26, 2007

To all my loyal Jayhawk fans, there's always next year!

This past weekend was a little crazy. Saturday morning our group run was quite muddy with all the rain we were getting. It was a nice misty rain when we started out on the Highline Canal Trail. We had lots of earthworms out and about keeping us company, but I tried to watch for them and careful not to step on them along the way. Later that night I went up to Breckenridge with a few others from Team in Training to be guest blackjack dealers at a party. That was a lot of fun, but very tiring as we didn't get home until 2:00am. Thank you to AAA Casino Rentals for donating funds in exchange for our time!

This past week has been better as far as training is concerned. The aches and pains are still there, but not quite as bad. Massage therapy has definitely been keeping the injuries at bay. Here's this week's running schedule....

Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - speedwork
Thursday - 3 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - rest
Sunday - Platte River Half Marathon (13.1 miles)

********************

March 19, 2007

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the St. Patrick's Day party fundraiser. It was a huge success! We raised over $1,200 and the money is still coming in! Please check the above section for upcoming fundraising events!

Physically, this week was tough. I didn't realize how much running I got in until Thursday when my body didn't feel like doing much of anything. That was my first day of not working out, which was well deserved. Our long run on Saturday was tough as injuries are starting to surface. Between painful shin splints and plantar faciiitis, it was not fun. I think my new running shoes made it worse, so I'm switching back to my old New Balance 901s. Just wearing them on Sunday made a huge difference, so hopefully that will be the end of those pains.

Pain or no pain....here's this week's training schedule:

Monday - 3 miles & lift weights
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - speedwork
Thursday - 3 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 13 miles
Sunday - rest

March 12, 2007

This week I'm quite tired. After running so many days in a row, I can feel my bones starting to ache. The Runnin' of the Green in downtown Denver was a lot of fun. My picture was in the Denver Post the following day. You can see it at http://www.denverpost.com/pictures and click on the archive for pictures on March 12, 2007 and it's #2. My little leprechaun men were with me then entire race. Official time was 42:22, 9:40/mile pace...not too shabby considering there were a lot of steep hills on the course.

Well, have a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day! Here's the running schedule for this week....

Monday - 5 miles
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - speedwork
Thursday - 3 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 11 miles Happy St. Patty's Day!
Sunday - rest...yeah!

March 5, 2007

We got another bout of snow last Wednesday, which caused a lot of traffic jams in the metro area. Because of 'ol man winter's overextended stay, I didn't get much running in during the week. Saturday was an entirely different situation. Beautiful day, the sun was out, and it was brisk and chilly. I ran with on of my mentees (did I tell you I'm leading a team this season?) and he was in awe by all the big beautiful homes we encountered along the Highline Canal trail. The trail was still snow covered so I wore my Yaktrax to keep myself from slipping and falling. Otherwise it was a great long run!

So yes, I'm mentoring a team this season. This means I get to help out a group of people doing the same thing that I'm out to do...fundraise and train for a marathon. A lot of these folks are first time marathoners and have never fundraised like this before. As their mentor, it is my honor to help these heroes get across the finish line by motivating them along the way and to help them with fundraising ideas. Each of them have a different story to tell in why they are running a marathon. Throughout the season, I will post any group fundraising events on my website, so please if you can, come and support us in our mission to cure blood cancers!

Here's this week's running schedule...

Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - 3 miles
Thursday - 3 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 9 miles
Sunday - Runnin' of the Green 7K

February 26, 2007

Had a pretty good week. Saturday morning I woke up and saw about 5 inches of snow on the driveway with the wind blowing really hard. I was a bit worried. As I drove farther north into Denver for our group run, the less snow I encountered. So Saturday's run ended up being pretty enjoyable without the worries of added percipitation.

Right now things are a bit hectic with trying to collect item donations for our team's silent auction event coming up April 1st. I'll be sure to post some information about the upcoming event on the website for anyone interested in attending. Here's this week's schedule...

Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - lift weights
Wednesday - Speed work
Thursday - 3 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 7 miles
Sunday - rest

February 22, 2007

We missed the record for continuous snow by only 2 days!! Well, I guess I'm not disappointed given the fact that I still have over a foot of snow on my front lawn.

The weather this week has been perfect for running outside, so I am happy to disconnect myself from the treadmill at the gym. Every single season when I start out on my first couple of weeks, I always wonder how I'll ever be able to run 26.2 miles...again. For some mysterious reason, something always kicks in on race day and the job gets done. I'm crossing my fingers for this season that we don't get anymore snow! Here's this week's training schedule....

Monday - rest
Tuesday - 3 miles
Wednesday - Speedwork (3 miles)
Thursday - 3 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 8 miles
Sunday - 2 miles

So I'm back for more! My experience training and fundraising for the Arizona Marathon was so amazing, I decided to keep on going!

Last Saturday we did our first group run for the season. I started out by slipping on ice and falling on my toosh in the parking lot while getting out of my car. Nice start! Three miles into the run I fell again, ice being the culprit, again. With a little over one mile to go, I fell, again. Needlesstosay, it was a very interesting first run outside. Denver has about 55 consecutive days of snow on the ground. The record is 63 days and I have a feeling that we'll be breaking that record pretty soon.

As always, thank you so much for your support and be sure to check back for updates and upcoming fundraising events!! Here it is...the infamous training schedule for the week.....

Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - rest
Wednesday - 3 miles
Thursday - 3 miles
Friday - lift weights
Saturday - 7 miles
Sunday - 3 miles
