Racing to Save Lives
“Mikey died this morning.” Those words cut through my heart like a knife. Cancer at that time was a mystery word which entered my life at the tender age of 20, just 10 short years ago. Much like a marathoner hitting a wall at mile 21 of a 26.2 mile distance race, my life seemed to stop that split second on April 5th, 1998. That was when I heard that a disease took the life of my friend, Mike, leaving me changed forever. In honor of the 10th anniversary of Mike’s passing to Leukemia, I am training and raising $5000 (and more!), to help promote the cancer research so thousands of people can continue to stay on the course in their own journey with the disease. And I would love to have your help!
I am training to participate in an endurance triathlon event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
