Running to Save Lives
I DID IT!
The day was glorious. Bright sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean, and 22,000 women all running together at the Nike Women's Marathon.
For me, the most amazing sight was the 8,000 of us out there running with Team in Training. It was awesome to see the sea of purple shirts - including those from our chapter, with my cousin Wendy's name printed right on the back!
Most important, TNT raised $18.5 MILLION for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for this event nationwide. An outstanding total that many of you contributed to!
I unfortunately was injured and had to walk half the race. But I did cross that finish line.
I guess it doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you keep going, keep enduring, keep hoping, and know that you will achieve your goal.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I thought of all of you and your support as those miles kept going by .
I am grateful I could share my journey with all of you. My marathon might be over, but the fight still goes on for so many. Please keep in your thoughts those that are still battling these horrible diseases.
Take care and thanks again!!
