Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

It was roughly two years ago when I embarked on my mission to train for my first triathlon. I joined Team in Training on my own, fundraised, and became a new person in the process. Not just because I was hooked to triathlons but also I was now hooked on curing cancer. Granted I am no scientist but as 1 person I was able to raise over $3,000 to aid in the process to cure cancer. Imagine a whole Team of like individuals with the same goal? Team in Training is just that, individuals setting a goal to complete an endurance event and raise money to aid in the research of curing cancer. We’ve made quite a dent in the process.

In addition to that first triathlon I completed, I also have completed a sprint triathlon with Team in Training as a mentor, 1 Century bike ride (100 miles on a bike in one day), run 2, that’s right TWO half marathons and joined a roller derby team! You can say Team in Training has changed me for the better. Now I’m back again to where it all started the Wildflower Triathlon. One of the most scenic and toughest triathlons in California and not only do I want to improve my time but also my fundraising. I am asking for your support for my participation this incredible event to raise funds for more effective treatment and on-going research to stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. My personal goal is to raise $3,500 by April 10, 2008. With your donation you will not only be supporting my participation in Team in Training, but you will help advance the Society's mission to FIND A CURE! 75% of all funds raised goes directly into research, education, and patient services. Your donation will help patients like my team’s honored teammate, Wanda Zimmer who is currently fighting Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma. In December 2007 the cancer returned. She is currently looking at all options and watching for the disease to return.

The research that The Society has funded has made tremendous progress. Along with blood cancers, they have been instrumental in helping with breast cancer, prostate cancer and AIDS research. Five-year blood cancer survival rates have improved by over 50%. A local researcher is developing a drug producing an 86% remission rate for Leukemia patients. More progress is being made daily and it is just a short time until cures for blood cancers are found. You can find more details at www.LLS.org.

If you know of anybody that is battling one of these diseases or has succumb to cancer of any kind, I would be more than happy to run in honor of them and their fight. Send me their name and I will proudly display it on my jersey during my event.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
