Racing to Save Lives
Because there are still people suffering with cancer . . .
I am going to run another marathon on June 3rd 2007 in sunny San Diego!
Last year, you helped me raise just over $4,000.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I cannot express just how truly thankful I am for your help.
Now I need your help again . . . In order for me to participate in the San Diego Rock-n-Roll Marathon this year, I need to raise a minimum of $2,450.00. However, I am still aiming to raise $3,500.00
Every dollar donated is genuinely appreciated!
This cause is very close to my heart, as it took the life of my Grandfather. Through my involvement with this program I have been exposed to just how many people in my life have a close connection to blood cancers- my friends, relatives, and their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, wives, husbands . . .
Unfortunately I don’t think there is a single one of us who has not lost someone they loved or cared about to cancer. Money raised by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society goes towards medical research that will help improve the quality of life and treatment for all people living with cancer, and will ultimately go towards finding a cure!
Thank you to everyone who has already donated! You are amazing! Please also ask someone you know to donate! Family, friends, doctors, dentists, babysitters, etc . . .
My training has been going very well this season. I anticipate running the marathon in about 3 hours and 40 minutes, which would be an incredible accomplishment for me. This requires a lot of training and speed workouts . . . mostly in the rain (I live in Portland, OR so it's expected). To be honest with you, sometimes I wake up early on Saturday mornings for our team trainings and I think to myself, "I don't feel like doing this today." But I quickly remember that people don't "feel like" having cancer today, or any day, and it gives me more than enough motivation to get out of bed and put on my (still wet from my previous run) sneakers and head out the door.
I also head out the door to train because of you, and your support. Without your interest in improving the quality of life for people with Leukemia, Lymphoma, and other cancers, I wouldn't be involved in this program for the second year in a row.
If there is someone in your life living with cancer, or someone who lost their battle with cancer, that you would like me run for, please send me their name and their story. I will be dedicating each mile of the marathon to the people you would like me to run for.
Please help me Race to Save Lives! Your generosity and support means the world to me and all those affected by Leukemia, Lymphoma, and all other blood cancers.
THANK YOU,
Randi Petrauskas
