Saving Lives One Step at a Time

Go Team In Training Ladies!!!! Donna, Karen, Amy, Courtney and Noreen headed for the finish line. What a glorious moment.

"When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better. " ~ Pauline R. Kezer

I did it!! I finished my first marathon;-) And the best part is that I feel that "sense of hope and accomplishment" that comes from knowing I helped to raise money to find a cure.

Team In Training had a wonderful turnout for this event. Here is what we accomplished for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society:

33 Oregon Honolulu Marathon participants raised over $150,000

379 Team In Training participants raised over 1.2 Million

As the Oregon & SW Washington team you ran or walked over 860 miles on Sunday

Every mile each Team In Training participant personally completed was worth $175 in the fight against blood cancer

Here are some additional fundraising facts:

A gift of $150 will fund a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society researcher for one day.

A gift of $500 will allow The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to reimburse one patient for medical expenses for a year through our Patient Financial Assistance program.

A gift of $1,000 will fund a patient education program on topics such as coping with chemotherapy and healthy cancer survivorship.

Given the above fundraising facts, as a team our $150,000 could go to fund 1,000 days of research OR fund 300 patient reimbursement requests OR fund 150 patient education programs.

How awesome is that?

I want to thank everyone who supported me in my first ever endurance event. An extra special thanks to LCG Pence Construction, LLC and my Grandmother Helen for sponsoring me. I could not have done it without you.

It was an experience I'll never forget. There were so many people from all over the world. It was amazing to see so many people with disabilities out there! I admire their tenacity, it helped remind me that I am truely blessed.

I want to give a special thank you to Reed and Bernard for taking pictures for us. It will provide wonderful documentation of the great time we had.

I also want to acknowledge the hard work the TNT staff and volunteers did. I appreciate all that you've done.

I'm looking forward to doing another event with Team In Training. It's a great program.

Season's Greetings,

Noreen
