Michelle is Running a Marathon!

She has gone insane...want to help?

I've gone off the deep end and decided to run the Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage this June. Yes...that is exactly 26.2 miles of insanity.

I'd like to share my marathon experience with you. No, you don't need to get out there to run the 26.2 miles with me, you don't even have to run one mile, you just need to open your hearts first, and your wallets second.

For the past three months I've been out there pounding the pavement with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma from taking more lives. The money we raise helps fund important research to combat not only these diseases, but ultimately all cancers.

Who I'm Running For

I'm completing this marathon in honor of my dad. He lost his battle with cancer in 1999. I'm certain he'd think I was a little crazy for undertaking this, but I'm equally certain he'd be proud of me. We miss him every day.

I'm also running the marathon in honor of all people fighting blood cancers...people like my honored teammate, Jodie Hall. She is a courageous young woman who was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia in 2002. Jodie, who will be joining us in Anchorage to walk the half marathon, will be 2 years into remission this July. She is also a full-time nursing student and lives her life with no regrets...sounds like great advice for all of us.

How To Donate

Donating via this site is easy and won't take more than five minutes of your time (and your donation is 100% tax deductible to boot). I am hoping to reach my fundraising goal by May 15th, 2005 (if you need more time, just e-mail me at schmela26.2@verizon.net).

Please support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line—a cure!
