Kelee Wright's Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am training to participate in an The Lake Tahoe century ride as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this century ride in memory of my grandma, Geri Gibson-Anthony and in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
_________________________________ UPDATE! 4.10.06 I have been feverishly training all winter and am trying to stay focused. I have a ride this weekend in Muskogee and will continue to train right up until I have to pack my bike for the big trip. At times, this has been difficult , but I have been reminded a lot about what Ma went through during her tests and treatments. I remember staying with her in the hopsital about this time last year and having our "slumber party". Ma fought so hard for every day that she had... it seems only fair that I should put forth effort on her behalf. Ma's battle with cancer is over, but many others continue to fight. With your help, everyday we are closer to finding a cure. I truly believe that or I wouldn't participate in this event. I know that with the research and community outreach provided by the LLS, those living with Leukemia, Lymphoma and other blood cancers find hope for the future. Thanks for being a part of their hope! __________________MAy 19, 2006 I am still feverishly trying to raise money and train for the actual ride. It is a lot to balance, but I know it will be an effort that will pay off for someone fighting leukemia...that's what keeps me going. Plus, I am advertising my legs on ebay ("left leg advertising") as we speak...the auction ends in 1 day so get bidding!!! Send the link to someone you know who may be interested. Be sure to check out all of my other items for sale. All $$$ goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I can also be contacted by email if you have an interest in advertising after the ride email@example.com. Also, I ran across this webpage for Greek Gray http://www.greekgrayleukemiafoundation.org/ She is looking for African American bone marrow donors and needs to find someone quickly. Please help if you can! There are just a few weeks left before the big ride and I am starting to get nervous about all of that altitude and about being away from my family for three days! I know that every dollar earned, every mile I ride is one step closer to a cure and I can't wait for that day to come! _________________________________ Update 5.24.06_____________________ You will all be glad to know that after auctioning my leg on ebay, I did make a sale! I have auctioned my right leg to a company called Phytobase.com and my leg will read:ChocoLeans.com. This company has been very generous and I am certain that this product is fantastic. I may also have some samples available for those at the event! Also, my left leg, and right and left calves are still on the auction block. tonight a story about my auction will air on KOTV 6 at 5 p.m. I am really excited about the publicity this will bring to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! I have only about a week until I leave for Lake Tahoe! I am really getting excited. I know Ma would be so proud and excited too. I know she would have thought this whole leg on ebay thing was hysterical! Ma had a great sense of humor and I miss that, along with everything else. That's why I am doing this...I miss her I wish she were here and I want to help find a cure so that someone else doesn't have to miss their loved one. Everytime I talk about this ride I think about Ma and everything that she means to me and truthfully, this ride and the preparation for it, have been therapeutic for me. Give away what you wish you had... I like to think that the money earned in this ride is going to help transform the hope for a cure into a reality. Thanks for your help!!! ______________5.25.06 All is well at ebay for now. If the auction should end and you are interested in advertising, please contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. YOU CAN FIND MY AUCTIONS BY SEARCHING "leg advertising" or "left calf"...THANKS AGAIN!!! Well, the ride is over and I have been just as busy getting back into my normal life as I was getting ready for the big ride. To say that the ride was a success would be an understatement.I truly feel like I kept a promised to Ma and to myself. I loved riding and had to work through so many mental and emotional barriers that I felt like anew person at the end. As promised I did have my sponosr's names written on my legs with sharpie! Christine Leonard and her gift of grphic design helped me out with that one. I forgot to put any sunscreen on and consequently had the logos singed into my skin for a couple of weeks. I would like to give avery special shout out to my sponosrs who generoulsy supported this cause and my crazy idea of advertising on my legs...
