Stephanie Wien's Team In Training Page
Let's do it again!
On January 13th, 2008 I will be participating in the Walt Disney World Marathon as a part of Team in Training (TNT). I had so much fun the first time around, I'm going back again!
All of us on Team in Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma from taking more lives. This year my goal is to raise $4,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and I'm confident I can do it with your help.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a non-profit organization whose mission is to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The money I'm raising goes toward much-needed blood cancer research, patient assistance, and professional education. A lot of progress has been made, but leukemia continues to be the leading cause of cancer death among people under the age of 20.
I will be training in memory of my grandmother Joan, who passed away due to lymphoma. Joan was always one to think of other people first, so I am participating in this run to carry on her legacy of giving back to others.
I am also running in honor of Abby Meacham (see the upper left in the photo). Abby is 9 years old and was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2006. She is one year into her treatment and will continue until fall 2008. She is the youngest of four girls, and has shown strength, humor and dignity throughout her cancer journey. Whenever I feel tired during training or the marathon, I will think of Abby's fighting spirit for inspiration.
All individuals who are battling blood cancers are the real heroes on our team!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
