Running fast and raising some cash

the finish line of my first marathon - phoenix, arizona, january 2007.

Update: I completed the Paris Marathon yesterday in 4h 50m 50s - a personal best! Hello friends!

As you know, I am training to run the Paris Marathon on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I trained for 4 months and am fundraising in memory of my friend Steven Bouvier, who we lost, far too early, to lymphoma in 2005 at the age of 29. I also run in support of my friend Anthony Zagami and his family who are currently in the fight against Leukemia.

In July of 2006, I did something crazy. I decided to run a marathon in memory of my dear friend Bouv. When all was said and done, on January 14th, 2007, I ran my very first marathon and raised over $10,000 to help fight against blood cancers. In June, I ran my second marathon in San Diego, mentoring others like me and helping in their fundraising efforts.

As part of what I hope to be an annual event in Steve's memory, I am now running the Paris marathon in April of 2008. My goal is go raise $20,000 on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

I am seeking the help of my friends to help me reach my goal and to make a contribution to all the people and their families who are fighting blood cancers on a daily basis.

I ask that you consider a donation today.

I run for the families that are fighting cancers every day.

I run so that one day there will be a cure.

I run because I miss Steve.

I run because sometimes I'm angry and sad and frustrated.

I run in celebration of Steve, his life & the impact he had on those that knew him.

I run because it's something I can do to help.

I run because I can when others can't.

I hope you'll check back frequently to see my progress. And if you want up to the minute updates, please read my training blog: girlyoubetterrun.blogspot.com

Thank you so very much for your support! See you at the park... -Jen
