Riding 100 km for Leukemia in Honor of My Dad
Welcome to my Team In Training home page, and thanks to the incredibly generous people who have said "yes" to my mission! Together, we've gotten to my fundraising goal, and beyond...putting resources directly toward helping people with blood cancers and finding a cure.
My ride on May 18 was fantastic--a "metric Century" (100 km) to Montauk, the tip of Long Island, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. One of those lives was that of my father--Richard Q. Becker, whom we lost in 1985 just two years after our wedding dance (right). It was an unforgettable day, and an honor to participate. I pushed myself further than I imagined I could in my 50th year; more important, I connected with a wonderful community of people whose lives have also been deeply affected by blood cancers, and who determined to do something about it.
Turns out, it wasn't too late to get in better shape. And no, it's not too late to click and give. THANKS, EVERYBODY!!!
