Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. I will be running a full marathon on October 7, 2007 in the La Salle Bank Chicago Marathon. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. This will be my first marathon, and with your support I will be able to achieve my goal.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at Dani_Frannie@yahoo.com. Thanks for your support!
6/14 – I have started training and boy has it been hard. But I know in the end a lot of people will benefit from the task I have taken on. Last weekend I ran 5 miles, and that is the most I have ever done. This weekend is 6 -7 miles, and I’m really looking forward to it. TNT is really helping me to have a new perspective on everything. It’s a challenge, but I’m looking forward to it.
6/26 - For the past two weekends I have ran 7 miles. I can't believe that I have made it this far in such a short time. I have only been training for five weeks, and I have tripled my starting distance. Running is also starting to become part of my daily routine.
7/15 - For the past two weekends I have mostly stayed around 7 miles. Yesterday I did 7.5 and it was strenuous. The Saturday run was in Mountain Lakes, which is mostly comprised of rolling hills. This made it the most difficult run since I've started training (I am really sore today from the hills). So, starting this week I will add hills to my training.
9/7 - Hello everyone! Here is a new update. I am still training to run the marathon, but I had a minor set-back. I received a knee injury, which caused a lot of pain when I ran. I've been going to physical therapy, and I am doing much better. The doctor said I can still run in the marathon, but I will have to pace myself. The injury may have set me back physically, but now I am even more determined to work harder to cross the finish line.
9/20 - I'm back on track, and I'm feeling better than ever. This Sunday I'm going to run in the Newport Liberty Half Marthon in Jersey City, and I can't wait! This is going to help me get ready for the Chicago Marathon since I've never ran in a marathon before. It will help me learn how to pace myself and how often to drink water while running. I am so excited, and I know when I run the actual full Chicago Marathon it will be even more invigorating.
