How Far Would You Run...To Save A Life?

We Did It! On May 20th, I successfully ran 26.2 Miles in The Rite-Aid Cleveland Marathon. Thank You for all Your Support! I could not have done it without you! God Bless You!

Thank you for helping to make miracles.

My name is Stephanie Wagner and I am training to run 26.2 Miles in the Cleveland Rite-Aid Marathon on May 20, 2007 as a volunteer for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.

These people are the real Heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - The Cure!

"Why does a good God permit pain & suffering?... ...To bring forth a greater good from it." ---Anonymous---

I believe that you and I can be part of that Greater Good.

Here are the most important reasons for my running...

Dorothy Mago -- I will always look up to Dorothy for being such an incredible role model for me. Dorothy was a very close family friend. She had incredible and absolute Faith in God. Dorothy taught me so much about the person that I want to be. She had this incredible gift of bringing out the best in everyone. Dorothy was always completely loving and completely generous to everyone in her life. I am so very blessed that I had the opportunity to have had her in my life. No matter how hard life was for her, Dorothy was always strong and she persevered. Each day as I train and prepare for this Marathon, I am in awe of Dorothy's strength and her steadfastness . I hope that she knows how much I truly revere and admire her. She was such a special person. It is my truest intention to honor her beautiful and phenomenal life with my run.

Training Notes

February 17th I ran in the Annual Chili Bowl 5K. The race was really cold but a lot of fun. Although I was not really ready to eat an entire bowl of chili as soon as I was done running. I guess that requires even more training:)

With every run, I can tell that I am getting stronger. Friday's warm weather was a wonderful break from training in the cold. I had a really great run in the park.

March 18--Nine mile run today. Today was a long run and it went really well. But there was definitely a point where I wasn't sure if I would make the whole run and I just found a way to push through. It felt so great to run outside in the beautiful sunshine. Today was a really great training day.

Next weekend is a Ten Mile Run. I am really looking forward to it.

March 21---Recommitment It is only through my recommitment to this most important cause that I am able to help my loved ones win their battle with blood-related cancers.

March 25- 13 Mile Group Run at The Rock Hall Downtown. Today was a very challenging run. At about mile 10, I was really starting to struggle yet somehow, I pushed through and I kept running. I know that being part of a Team is important because if I was running alone, I am not sure that I would have run as far. I finished my run in 2 hours and 14 minutes...so approximately 10min.,30sec.- miles with only two water stops. Today was really tough, but it felt great. The coaches along with my teammates were very encouraging and helped me to succeed in my run today.

April 1---7.8Mile Training Run--- Today's run went pretty well except I think that my pace was a bit slower. This running gig is a lot harder than I ever imagined! April 2 ---Cascade Park short run today. Just an absolutely beautiful day. But my legs were pretty sore today, so it was a tough 30 min. Lots of hills, too. Those are lots of fun...

Training updates: April 10- Short 4 mile run today at 5a.m.

April 18- Short 7.2 miles.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

On April 14, I went to Toledo to help out with an important Leukemia & Lymphoma Society event, the Pasta Party for The Glass City Marathon. The event was a great success and I had the opportunity to meet other marathoners who generously offered me kind encouragement and supportive advice.

My music is really important to keep me going during all of my training. Music has such an amazing ability to inspire.

My favorite song to rock out to on a run? --Renegades of Funk--by Rage Against The Machine ...towards the end of my longest runs, I'll just listen to that song over and over. It helps me run so much further than I think I can.

While I was watching Patch Adams this weekend, I had further insight into why this is so important---I realized that the most important gift we have is the ability to give to others.

I want to help others.
