Scott and Heather's Team In Training Experience
Train : Endure : Achieve : Matter
Welcome to our 2006 Team In Training online headquarters!
Last year, Heather and Scott successfully completed the Seagull Century 100-mile bike ride in Salisbury Maryland. Thanks to contributions from generous folks like you, they raised over $6,000.
Team In Training team members are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. At a very young age Heather lost her Mom, Nancy Spies, to Leukemia. Heather and Scott are continuing their involvement in Team in Training in honor of her mother's memory, as well as in honor of all of the amazing people that we've met over the last year that are battling cancer or have loved ones affected by the disease.
We ask once again for your support to help stop this disease from taking the lives of anyone else's loved ones. Heather and Scott have pledged to make it to another finish line, and hope you will help them help the researchers and care providers who are working to cross a different finish line - finding a cure.
Please make a donation to support their participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. Our fundraising goal this year is $7,000, and we know that we will be successful in both raising the money and completing the event thanks to the support of people like you.
Please visit here often. This page will be updated with Scott and Heather's progress as they move toward their goal. Thanks for your support!
We are now in WEEK 5 of our training and have logged well over 100 miles despite rain, heat, humidity and mechanical difficulties. We were inspired to receive this email from our honoree:
"I just wanted to check in with you all and remind you that, even though it's HOT, and HUMID, and sweaty, and sultry out there- keep up all of the good work. You are doing an amazing thing. You really are making a difference, pushing your self to work out- (or even just thinking about it a lot) fundraising, all of it. But don't forget that you are also giving people like me, continued hope and motivation. I hope that it will be a wonderful experience for each of you. I am truly honored that there are people like you out there. "
