Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to Marla’s Team In Training home page! On June 24, 2007 I will be participating in an Olympic distance triathlon in Philadelphia as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. All of us on Team in Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling these blood cancers. We all know at least one person who has had this disease....I have known several. Please let me know if you want me to race for someone you know. I am also racing for our team honoree, Kailey Billicky.
As you may know about me, nutrition, exercise and health in general have been my passion. As a dental hygienist, Mom, and “practicing nutritionist”, excellent food, limiting sugar, having good digestion, improving our immune system and eating super green foods have been motivating issues for me in educating others. There are many ways we can take care of ourselves to help prevent many syndromes and diseases, but this is not one of them. This disease is not discriminatory of age, nationality or lifestyle and has no boundaries.
While I might be in pretty good shape for my age, this triathlon will be very challenging for me. What I will take with me is how challenging battling this disease can be, and what I am doing is nothing compared to their fight. My challenge is a choice, while theirs is not. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
My goal is to raise at least $3900, though doubling this would be awesome. I can't make it without your love, interest, caring and financial support.
