More than just a race...

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in The Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon on June 24th as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Training for and competing in this triathlon is about more than just a race. With every swim, bike, or run I do, I am reminded of the struggles and triumphs people like Emma, our 6-year-old honored hero, have experienced or are experiencing on a daily basis. Emma was diagnosed with leukemia over 2 years ago and underwent extensive chemo. She is now in remission and enjoying life as a 6-year-old! My life has been blessed with good health and the support of friends and family and I am honored to be part of an organization that is working to provide the same for thousands of people battling blood cancers. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.

End of May update: I ran the Lincoln Half Marathon May 6 and finished in under my goal time of 2 hours! Despite the rain, it was a great race and a lot of fun. On May 24th, I took my medical school board exam (woohoo!) and after a quick weekend of catching up with friends, family, and life, I'm down in San Antonio for National Guard training. Learning to be an officer could be quite the adventure. Day 1 starts at 0430! But, it should be a good time and I should have an opportunity to train while down here. THEN it's to Philadelphia for the triathlon! I am extremely excited that the triathlon is almost here. It's been a great journey so far. I am so close to my fundraising goal (thanks to all those who have donated so far!) It has been such an honor to be part of an organization that makes a huge impact on so many lives. I am constantly reminded of and inspired by those who have endured through leukemia or lymphoma and motivated to keep pushing even when I get overwhelmed with studying or life in general. Thanks to everyone for their support. You are truly making difference!
