Here I Go Again!!
Racing to Save Lives
Dear Friend, Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that they have leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma, and every ten minutes, a child or adult dies from one of these diseases. While more and more people are becoming survivors of these deadly diseases, there is still no cure. After making the choice for myself that I wanted to run a marathon, I thought that running for a cause is much more meaningful that simply running for myself. I have recently become a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. For the next few months, I will dedicate my mind and body to help find a cure for these terrible diseases. Although, I do not know anyone personally who has been touched with any of these diseases, I have heard so many touching stories that makes me realize, that this is a great cause. I am running for these families, the pain that I will go through running this marathon is not comparable to the pain that these patients and families feel on a daily basis. I lost my grandmother to cancer, although it was not a blood cancer, I know how hard it can be on the families. It would be an amazing feat if these diseases were no longer commonplace in our society. That is the goal of Team In Training, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. On June 3, 2007 I will be running 26.2 miles in San Diego for the Rock and Roll Marathon. I won’t be able to train for this event alone, and I would be honored if you would help me. My goal is to raise $4,000. No pledge is too small! Donations need to be received no later than May 18, 2007. I invite you to be part of my goal. I promise you, there is no better feeling than knowing that you were a part of an amazing mission that successfully helped so many people! Thank you so much for your support! See you at the finish line. Shari
