Racing to Save Lives - and one princess in particular!

Dead Last Finish is greater than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start.

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in the Marine Corps Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in memory of Muzzy and in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. Muzzy was and always will be in my heart. I know that one day, I will see her again. I know that she is watching me from Heaven and she is so proud of me and what I've been doing.

This season, I'm also running in honor of someone. I'm running for a special little girl. 3 1/2 year old Sara Pacheco is my number one honored teammate this season! She was recently diagnosed with stage 3-B Cell, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (Burkitt's). She is my hero! Her family and those who support them are the real heroes.

Their family website is the following: www.pacheco.us.com.
Sara's routine week of chemo consists of 6 days and 9 different chemo drugs.
6 are given via IV, 2 orally, and 1 given as a twice weekly spinal injection.
She also gets a more or less continuous IV drip while in the hospital to keep her kidneys functioning, various other drugs intended to keep the nausea down, and has received an occasional blood transfusion.

I've realized that God didn't give me the skills or the knowledge to cure leukemia or those suffering with it. But he may have given it to a doctor or researcher somewhere. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society raises money to support this research.

Team In Training exists to find a cure for blood cancers. It also looks to improve the life of patients and their families. This is what we are raising money for - to ultimately find a cure.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
