Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to our Team In Training home page.

Jennifer and I are training to participate in the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling cancer. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support our participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.

We hope you'll visit our web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see our progress. Thanks for your support!

Our honorees - the people we're doing this for

Barb Peterson
Our friend Barb was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1986 and in the process of treatment developed Lupus. In 2003 she was also diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Because of the combination of the Leukemia and the Lymphoma the doctors didn't think she had a chance of survival. It was a very hard time for all her friends and family, but she is in remission again and has good and bad days. We are just glad she is still here. Barb says that the cancer has given her a deeper awareness and appreciation for life. She misses that "healthy feeling" but refuses to let it control her life. Family and friends are a precious gift that she treasures. She loves bird watching, planting in her flower garden, camping, and watching her grandson bowl.

Thelma Schewe
Jon's Grandma likes to do quilting and embroidery. She also enjoys visiting with friends and family. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in February 2006 at the age of 85. She had the surgery shortly after that. She was treated with one of the more agressive chemo therapy regimes available and completed treatments in the fall of 2006. So far she has a clean bill of health. She continues with tests to ensure the cancer is in remission.

Harold Moehring
Born December 29th, 1941 in Easton, MN. After high school he served in the US Airforce as an MP and was a member of the American Legion and the NRA. He worked at Telex for 34 years. He was married to Jon's "Aunt" Mary for 39 years. He enjoyed auctions, gardening, attending gun shows, and refinishing furniture. He was the life of the party, always joking and laughing. In March of 2006 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma in his lungs, which spread to his brain. After a showing signs of remission, he passed away suddenly on October 19th, 2006.

Clifford Parker
Born on July 10th, 1928 in Stearns County, MN. He served with the US Army from 1948 to 1954 and was an active member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Minneapolis for 30 years. He was married to Jen's Aunt Beverly for 28 years. He loved to fish, hunt, and collect coins. At the end November of 2006 he was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away December 10th, 2006.
