Biking to Battle Blood Cancers

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. The event I will do is a 100mi. bicycle ride around Lake Tahoe on June 1st. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives and I'm happy to see that I'm almost to my pre-set goal, thanks to friends and family like yourself. I'm completing this event in memory of my dad, Herbert Pontzer, who lost his battle with leukemia 3 years ago and in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. I am sure most of you can think of a person in your life who is fighting, or has fought, these cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a tax-deductible donation to support my participation and help advance the Society's mission which includes research support, patient & community service programs, and professional education. I have donated the funds to cover the expenses of the trip for me (and my bike) so anything you donate will go directly to the mission. My absolute deadline for commitment of funds is May 19th. It would be a wonderful tribute to Dad to go over my goal.

Training for this event has been very difficult this spring with flooding, cold temps. and high winds but I guess my preparation for a mountain ride will be complete. I am really looking forward to the scenery on what is known as 'America's Most Beautiful Ride'. Thanks for your support by paying tribute to Dad in helping me reach my goal.
