Until there is a cure there is no finish line

PAULWILNER@aol.com The finish line is inching closer but UNTIL THERE IS A CURE THERE IS NO FINISH LINE. I will be participating in my 9th and 10th Team in Training events by running the Bayshore half marathon on May 26, 2007 and the Detroit half marathon in October 2007. I will once again be running to raise awareness and money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. When I ran the Dublin marathon I became friends with a couple of my teammates and at the victory party I challenged them to continue their involvement with Team in Training and to place a small wager on who will complete the race in the shortest time. Well, they immediately accepted the challenge. I will now have to adjust my training to include more speed work!! The prize is an additional donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Over these past 4 ½ years I have come to meet many special friends. Through these experiences I have also met new honored heroes that I will be dedicating my support. As always I will run in memory of my dad, Dr. Freeman Wilner. My dad was a physician, an oncologist that dedicated his career to helping battle these blood related cancers and sadly, he also became a victim of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. This is my way of continuing the wonderful, caring work my dad provided for 47 years. The honored heroes fighting these diseases are truly a motivating force: Matthew Schoals who is battling ALL, Jordan Mitchelson who is beating her battle with CML and (who also ran the Dublin Marathon in October), and Keli Barriss who is conquering her fight with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Those Honored Heroes we will never forget: Glenn Scott, Tim Gubala and Jan Burchman. The strength and courage these fine folks have exhibited is an inspiration for us all. Your help is critical. Your donation can and will help find the cure for all these horrific blood borne cancers. My personal fundraising goal is a minimum of $7,500.00 dollars. Your contribution regardless of the amount will help in this fight. Tax deductible checks may be made out to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I will be training in double time and look forward to your thoughtful donation. In addition, I have teamed up with a group that is sponsoring a golf scramble to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on June 9, 2007 at College Fields Golf Club in Okemos. Please let me know if you are interested in playing or donating an item for our auction. Thanks so much for your help, Paul Wilner Corporate sponsorships are also available starting at $1,500.00.
