Racing to save lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!!
So here we go again. Fresh new start, fresh new website. I began this quest to run a marathon way back in August, and I will do whatever it takes to get there!
I am training to run the Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage, Alaska on June 23rd. Don't worry... the average temperatures are in the 60's for June =) As most of you know, I had to stop training for my initial marathon due to a stress fracture on my pelvic bone. I took about 2-3 months off but am back in full effect!
Taking all of this into account, you better believe I'm doing this for a wonderful cause. I am running this marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. As a member of Team In Training, I am raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
My honored hero for this race is Bea Strand. Bea was diagnosed with Leukemia in July 2006. She has been going through chemotherapy, radiation, and recently had a stem cell transplant. Slowly but surely, she is getting stronger. Please join me in my efforts and make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to support me throughout this adventure. Be sure to check back often for updates =)
5/18/07: Getting closer and closer to race day! The miles are climbing and my knees are hating me, but I am still pushing through. 16 miles tomorrow! Scary.
3/18/07: Still running strong and injury free! I'm up to 11 miles and it keeps on climbing. I am so proud to say that I have not only met, but surpassed my fundraising goal!! A huge thank you to all that have helped me reach this point; I could not have done it without you. I cannot believe that I am really over $5,000!! Let's keep it comin'!
