Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of my father and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I remember the day well; the day I got the call... “You better come home now as your dad is not going to make it.” You see, my father was diagnosed with Leukemia in January 1985. I lived 100 miles away from him, making the weekend trips to the hospital in Saginaw. He had made it through the aggressive chemo treatment, and we were hoping for him to be with us a couple more years. However, this deadly disease took him in six short weeks. Anthony F. Zazo passed away March 10, 1985, he was 52. That was 23 years ago and he would have been 75 years old this year, and I still feel the pains every day of missing him. We don’t know why he was taken from us at such an early age, but I have dedicated myself to raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help others have a chance to live, so another little girl won’t have to lose her dad. I am participating in my seventh endurance event as a member of the Society’s Team In Training -- the Traverse City Bayshore Marathon. As I push through the hard miles, he is there with me, as I believe in angels, and my dad is my guardian angel. He is with me every step of the way and gives me strength.
