Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT?
I am training to participate in The Nation's Triathlon in Washington, D.C., as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. As a TNT member, I raise funds to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's programs in research and patient services (co-pay medication assistance, peer counseling, and more).
In return, TNT offers me:
• Professional coaching
• Weekly team trainings
• Support, support, support
Of the 3 blood cancers, Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma - Leukemia is THE number one disease-killer of youth, ages 20 and under, and the leading killer of men and women under 35. I'm completing this event in honor of my deceased Grandmother, Lillian, who died of Leukemia when my father was 7 and Wilicia Gaymon who recently died from Leukemia in June, leaving behind 3 young children. I am also honoring and supporting Byron in Jacksonville, Florida who is currently fighting Leukemia. In my fundraising efforts around Detroit alone, I can say that one out of every two people I have spoken with on this cause are suffering from, have suffered, or know of a friend/family member who have dealt with or died from a blood cancer. It is closer to home than I thought and likely closer to home than you think. Let's donate NOW. It is more than a tax deduction. You could be saving a life or even your own.
THE RACE
The triathlon is on September 29th. So, not only do I have a lot of fundraising to do, but a lot of training. The triathlon is an olympic style race - 1 mile swim, 25 miles bike, and a 6 mile run. I'd appreciate your prayers and support, this is going to be a big challenge!!! Please bookmark my site and come back often to check on my progress.
I hope you can find a way in these difficult times to give to this very worthy cause and hopefully some day we can say we were part of the cure!
We also accept corporate sponsorship in exchange for company promotion on Team T-shirts, our main website, in press releases, and more.
