Hello!

As some of you may already know, I have made a personal commitment to train for a triathlon (an Olympic event consisting of a .9 mile swim, 25 mile bike ride and a 6.2 mile run).

So, what’s the motivation? Well, quite simply, to help people. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of two beautiful individuals who were taken from us by this disease; my grandmother (my Oma) Elly and a dear young boy named Luc. I'm also racing for all individuals who are currently battling these blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line -- a cure!

I'm sure you all know that these cancers are horrible; they attack people from all walks of life - many of whom are children. In fact, it is the number one cause of death of children under the age of 15. The good news is that things are happening, lives are being saved, and survival rates have jumped from 4% to 81% in the last 40 years.

How can you help? My goal has been to raise at least $5,000. Thanks to so many of you, that goal has become a reality! But please don't think that it is too late to make a donation. This all goes to such a good cause, so really there is no limit on how much we can raise together. Suggested contributions start as low as $25, but let your heart be your guide.
