Dawn Spriggs' Race for a Cause
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome my Team In Training home page!!
I’m about to embark on one of my greatest personal challenges. I am training with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program in preparation for my 1st Triathlon being held in Ellicott City, MD on Sunday, May 20, 2007.
The primary mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is to: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma – improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Over the past three months, I have been training to complete an Olympic Distance triathlon that includes .9 mile swim (1500 meters), 24.8 mile bike ride (40K), 6.2 mile run (10K) .
My goal is to raise at least $3000, to support this organization’s mission and it will be one of the biggest challenges of my life for many reasons.
I’ve lost a grandmother whom I hold so dearly and two loving aunts to cancers that are so close to being cured. My personal commitment to making exercise and outdoor activity part of my healthy lifestyle and my faith has prepared me for the challenges that lay ahead.
I am honoring two Teammates: Mary Anderson is my aunt who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year and is now cancer free and Vivian Lasley-Bibbs who has been in remission from Hodgkin’s disease for over 10 years!
Please make a tax deductible donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
