Racing to Save Lives

Who wouldn't do a Triathalon for a smile like that?

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. And in honor of a special friend, Jenna, who was diagnosed with Acute lymphocytic leukemia(ALL) at just 14 weeks old. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

2-26-07 - Well I have been training for 3 weeks now. Last week I rode 7 miles on two days and ran 2.25 miles on two days. On the days I bike I follow it up with a Yoga class for stretching. That takes 90 minutes. Swimming was on Saturday. There are definitely muscles I haven't been using. Once I remember how to breathe while swimming, things will get easier. There were some people at practice who made it look very easy. Sunday started with Yoga and I was really sore. Today is my rest day. This coming week is a little easier pace (Rest Week,) then I start building distance again.

3-9-07 Good thing I had a rest week cause I've been sick. Getting better and ready to get back into training.

3-26-07 I've been learning how to swim. We practiced turning in the water. Using our arms and twisting to propel us. That way I don't wear out my legs on the swim. Running a little farther, up to 3 miles now. Thanks everyone for all the support!

4-21-07 Things have been very busy the last few weeks. Two weeks ago we did a trial run. 2/3 the distance on each leg of the race. I was the last one out of the pool, but not the last one over the finish line. It was good practice to see what transitioning is about. Swimming is going to be the biggest challenge, but we have a great coach, Kathryn, who keeps me motivated. Last Saturday I picked up my wetsuit. Times fast approaching. Thanks to everyone for you generosity. I know Jenna's family is amazed with all the support. And so am I.Thanks to you, I've reached my goal!!!!! Now on to the race.
