Racing to Save Lives
On June 1st I will be traveling across the country from Boston to San Diego to run the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I’ve always been very athletic. I used to wake up and go to the gym everyday to make a difference in my attitude and my body. This is my chance to wake up and make a difference in someone else’s life. Blood cancer is a cause that strikes near and dear to my heart. Two of my grandparents died from Multiple Myeloma and my friend’s father is fighting the same disease. With previous money raised through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, new forms of treatment have been developed that fight and kill cancerous cells more aggressively, allowing many cancer patients to lead normal lives. If we had this technology sooner, my grandmother would have been able to see her only granddaughter graduate and would have danced with her grandson at his wedding. The technology wasn’t there for her, but no grandchild, father, mother, or friend should have to witness their loved one’s struggling. Every dollar raised brings us one-step closer to the cure so you and your family won’t have to watch anyone else suffer.
