Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
In January of 2007 my wife, Katie, and I signed up to become a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. For four solid months we were dedicated to raising money and pushing ourselves physically. In June of 2007 we ran our first 1/2 marathon in San Diego, California and were able to raise over $8000.
This year my wife and I are at it again, only this time we are off to Anchorage, Alaska! On June 21st, 2008 I had intended on running my second half marathon, and Kate had intended to run her third in support of TNT's cause, however, plans have changed. We have decided to push ourselves even further this year and go the distance in running our first FULL marathon as well as increasing our goal this year to raise over a combined $10,000!
I will once again be running in support of the McCann Family. January 4, 2008 marked the one year anniversary of the passing of Bill McCann, who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia on September 13, 2006. AML is a very aggressive disease that took Bill's life quickly. Bill left behind his wife Alice who has been battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia since May of 2000. Her Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia has since progressed into Large Cell Lymphoma. This past year was difficult for Alice, with the passing of her husband, 6 long months of chemotherapy, and being hospitalized for much of November and December due to an infection which took its toll on her surpressed immune system. However, Alice is a fighter and has since returned to living on her own at home, and even returned to work right after the New Year.
I want to thank you all in advance for your support. It truly means a lot to know you are all there to give Kate and I the support we need to reach our goal and cross the finish line!
Here's to Alaska, to a great run in memory of Bill and in honor of Alice, and to raising money for a cure!
