"Tri"ing to find a cure
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
A few years ago, my good friend Toni came to me and said "lets run a marathon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society". I called her crazy, said there was no way I could do it and said I'd go to the meeting just to keep her company. Well, I have to say - that meeting changed my life. Hearing from past members about their experiences and hearing from survivors about theirs and how much Team in Training helped them, I signed up - I've been running ever since. I run my events, as many of you know, in memory of my Mom, Marion Edwards. She passed away on November 4th, 1995 after a long battle with Lymphoma. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of her. She is my hero and I hope she knows that. I also run with Katie Spellman as my patient hero. She is my daughter's friend from preschool- they are now 19 - and is battling Leukemia.
I am now training to participate in the St. Anthony's Triathlon in April, 2008, in St.Petersburg, Florida, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. I will then participate in the Mooseman 1/2 Ironman in New Hampshire on June 8th. Many of you have sponsored me in the past and I thank you so much for all of your support. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event for all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
