Racing to Save Lives...My Newest Challenge!...2008
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
As many of you know, on April 27, 2008, June 8, 2008, and October 19,2008, I will be participating in the St. Anthony’s Olympic Distance Triathlon, Mooseman ½ Iron Man Triathlon and the Nike Women’s Marathon as a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training Program. I have pledged to swim, bike and run on behalf of two very special patient heroes, Jessica and Shamus, to help raise money for leukemia research and patient assistance programs. As the art teacher of two patient heroes, I feel compelled to help find a cure for leukemia and blood related cancers. My 7th grade hero is a 4-year leukemia survivor and my 5th grade hero is recovering from a bone marrow transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.
The fight to find a cure is very important to me and with your help
I hope to raise $13,000.00 by June 15, 2008!
Exceeding our $12,000.00 fundraising total in 2007.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. When you donate, you will be helping to fund lifesaving research and provide help and hope to thousands of families affected by the disease. To make an online donation, simply click on the secure link. You will receive a confirmation by e-mail detailing your donation. I appreciate your support. All donations are tax deductible.
Gratefully,
Jean Marie Toy
A SURVIVOR'S STORY
Having Leukemia does not mean death, although most people think so. Just take a look at me. I am a 3-year survivor of A.L.L. Leukemia. I was diagnosed with it six years ago in kindergarten. I am currently in the 6th grade and I am a healthy young lady. After all I’ve been through, I feel that help and support are the most important things. It is so important to try and donate money because it does so much. For example, when I was on chemotherapy I needed blood. If it were not for the person who donated, something could have happened to me. Also, donating money can help find a cure for the disease. After losing my hair and all the pain I am still here. I am so thankful for that. So remember, cancer does not mean death!
P.S. I am not wearing a wig. That’s what cures do.
