Racing to Save Lives

Inspired by my brother, Jeff, who lost his battle with Lymphoma last August, I trained for and completed America's most Beautiful Ride as part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. Participating in the event was my personal tribute to Jeff and gave me the opportunity to DO something so that others may be spared from suffering as Jeff and our family did during his illness.

Knowing that my effort and miles can make a difference is incredibly gratifying. Jeff's hard-fought battle was not won, but by raising money for research, WE CAN SAVE OTHERS!

Together, the Long Island cycling team raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars (Nationally, Team in Training raised over $8 million dollars this year!) which will go to fund blood cancer research and provide support for patients and families.

Society funded research has lead to steady advances in treatments for blood cancers, from chemo therapies and bone marrow transplants to new drugs like Gleevec and STI-571. Current areas of research hold promise for a cure.
